Some people would be happy to live in the same place forever, while others are ready to try a new location. And new research from a moving company shows us just where folks have been moving to and from in 2022. United Van Lines has released its 46th Annual National Movers Study, which shows their customers’ state-to-state moves over the last year. It reveals that Americans are continuing to move to lower-density areas around the country, including Vermont, which saw the highest percentage (77%) of people moving there for the second year in a row. On the flip side, for the fifth consecutive year, New Jersey is the state with more residents moving out than any other state (67%). The survey that goes along with United’s study gives insight into why people make the moves they do and this year, it shows that more Baby Boomers and Gen Xers moved than any other age group. People aged 55 and older made up more than half (55%) of all inbound United Van Lines moves in 2022. The top reasons for the moves include wanting to be closer to family (35%), a new job or company transfer (33%) and retirement (20%).The top states people moved to using United in 2022 were:
