It seems the previous data that found there may be some heart healthy aspects of drinking red wine moderately (that's one glass per day for women). But no one is prescribing it. What's more, comparison's were being drawn between otherwise healthy wine drinkers and people with heart issues.
The reason people were suggesting it was healthy is that the flavonoids and antioxidants provided can be found in healthy foods, like grapes.
And while wine may help you de-stress, it's also got plenty of sugar and can raise your BP.
At best you're trading off a little good for a little not so good.
