Miami, FL - Former President Donald Trump endorsed Emilio T. Gonzalez for mayor of Miami in a Truth Social post on Sunday, praising his record as former Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and as a U.S. Army veteran.

Trump highlighted Gonzalez's strong support for law enforcement, the military, and veterans, stating that Gonzalez understands the importance of maintaining law and order.

Gonzalez, who previously served as Miami City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer, advanced to a runoff election after finishing second in the November 4 general election.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins placed first with approximately 36% of the vote, while Gonzalez received about 19%.

No candidate secured a majority, triggering the runoff scheduled for December 9th.

The nonpartisan race originally featured 13 candidates.

Former Commissioner Ken Russell finished third with 18%, followed by Joe Carollo at 11%.

The remaining candidates each received 5% or less.

The runoff will determine who succeeds term-limited Mayor Francis Suarez.

Gonzalez and Higgins are now the only two contenders vying to lead the city of Miami.
