Miami Man Arrested in Florida Keys After Allegedly DUI With Children

Monroe County, FL - A Miami man was arrested in the Florida Keys Wednesday after allegedly driving under the influence with two children in his vehicle and claiming to be a federal agent during a traffic stop.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies received a call around 3:30 p.m. about a vehicle driving erratically near Mile Marker 40 on U.S. 1.

Officers located the car swerving into oncoming traffic and pulled it over near Mile Marker 36.5.

Authorities identified the driver as 42-year-old Scott Thomas Deiseroth of Miami. Deputies said he allegedly smelled strongly of alcohol, gave incorrect information about his location and direction of travel, and failed standardized field sobriety tests.

During the stop, Deiseroth allegedly told deputies he was a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

Two children, ages 7 and 9, were in the car at the time. They were released to a family member, and the Florida Department of Children and Families was notified. Authorities confirmed the children were unharmed.

Deiseroth was taken into custody and booked into the Monroe County Jail.

He faces charges of driving under the influence and child endangerment. Officials have not released information on bond or upcoming court dates.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that impaired driving incidents, particularly those involving minors, are taken seriously and continue to be investigated to protect public safety.
