Katy Perry is giving fans an inside look at her romantic troubles in her vulnerable new single "bandaids."
On Thursday (November 6), Perry dropped a brand new song about doing everything possible to try and make a relationship work. "Bandaids," which she first teased earlier in the week, is her first new music since releasing her sixth studio album 143 in September 2024.
In the pre-chorus, she sings, "Got so used to you letting me down/ No use trying to send flowers now/ Telling myself you'll change, you don't/ Bandaids over a broken heart."
Perry later sang about having "too many splinters" in a relationship that was "perfect" until it wasn't and "flatlining trying to save this" before the romance fizzled out. Even then, she "would still do it all over again" because "the love we made was worth it in the end."
She also shared an accompanying Final Destination-style music video directed by Christian Breslauer that saw the singer taking hit after hit and overcoming repeated near-death experiences before coming out the other side, slightly bruised and battered but alive. Or is she?
The new track seemingly hints at the reason behind Perry's split from longtime partner and former fiancé Orlando Bloom. The pair, who share 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, went their separate ways this summer but have still shown support for each other amid their co-parenting journey.
