It's been 24 years since How the Grinch Stole Christmas starring Jim Carrey was released, instantly becaming a Christmas classic and a festive favorite to watch during the holiday season. But, could a How the Grinch Stole Christmas 2 work out? Jim Carrey seems to think so! But, under one condition.
While promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 3 ahead of its release, speaking to ComicBook, Carrey said he would love to reprise his role as the Grinch for a How the Grinch Stole Christmas sequel — but only if they could figure out a way to do it without him having to go through the intricate process of transforming into the Grinch with all the makeup. He explained, "The thing about it is, on the day, I do that with a ton of makeup and can hardly breathe. It was an extremely excruciating process. The children were in my mind all the time. 'It's for the kids. It’s for the kids. It’s for the kids.' And now, with motion capture and things like that, I could be free to do other things. Anything is possible in this world."
How The Grinch Stole Christmas was directed by Ron Howard at released in 2000, and is a live-action version of the beloved children's story by Dr. Seuss. The movie also stars Taylor Momsen (Cindy Lou Who), Christine Baranski (Martha May), Jeffrey Tambor (Mayor Augustus), Molly Shannon (Betty Lou Who), Bill Irwin (Lou Lou Who) and more.
