Miami-Dade Police Officer Arrested For Sexual Battery, More

Miami-Dade Police arresting one of their own. And while the allegations of armed kidnapping and armed sexual battery against his ex-girlfriend are disturbing, Police Director Stephanie Daniels says 32 year old Officer Miguel Lomeli represents where the department stands on any crimes against the badge. She will not allow it.

In statement, she says:

“There is no place for betrayal of public trust of any kind in the Miami-Dade Police Department. The allegations of misconduct by one of my officers is extremely troubling and immediate action has been taken to hold the officer accountable.

The integrity of our police department is of the utmost importance, and we must continue to act with the highest of standards in order to safeguard the trust of all Miami-Dade County residents. I will not allow this badge to be tarnished by anyone.

The arrest today is thanks to the swift and skilled work of our Special Victims Bureau and the State Attorney’s Office. The Miami-Dade Police Department will continue its thorough investigation and work closely with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office to ensure that justice is fully served.”

Lomeli is also charged with burglary with assault and/or battery while armed.

This after an argument with the victim outside her home in Homestead around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lomeli allegedly grabbed her and brought her inside the home, where he sexually assaulted her.

Lomeli is being held on no bond.

The department’s Special Victims Bureau and the State Attorney’s Office are investigating.
