Media, Supporters and Law Enforcement Converge on Miami for Trump Arrest

(MIAMI, Fl) -- The unprecedented arrest and arraignment of a former president is hours away in the Miami Federal Courthouse. What can Donald Trump expect?

Former FBI special agent and criminal defense attorney Stuart Kaplan says once inside the courthouse we will see very little of the ex-president being processed because electronic devices such as phones or cameras are barred inside the courthouse. Outside the courthouse Tuesday morning, the media presence eclipsed the protestors who gathered but by afternoon the ratio flipped.

The motorcade will likely drive into the underground garage where judges park and once inside the courthouse, Trump's secret service detail will hand him over to the US Marshals.

During processing, Trump will be fingerprinted and possibly photographed for a mugshot that will not be released to the public, according to Kaplan.

Former President Trump is expected to plead not guilty to the 37 felony charges and Kaplan says he will most likely be released without bond on his own recognizance.

Even though Trump has a right to a speedy trial, Kaplan does not believe the case will go to court anytime soon, especially not before the 2024 election. Kaplan reminds us that in the Federal system, the prosecution has a 96.4% conviction rate.
