(Fort Myers, FL) -- The state of Florida is handing out another round of funding for hurricane aid.

Governor Ron DeSantis was in Fort Myers earlier today to allocate more than $500 million dollars for Hurricane Ian victims.

The governor said this is the first time in the state's history that any amount of money has been given out in such a short amount of time following a storm.

During the press conference, it was also highlighted that one-million dollars from the Florida Disaster Fund will be distributed to teachers and school employees in five counties along the Gulf Coast to help them recover.
