Talquin Power Restoration Update

A note from Talquin Electric on their efforts to restore power:

Talquin teams continue to work diligently to restore power to all of our Members. In just over 24 hours we have restored service to over 23,000 meters, which means our system is more than 82% restored. At the height of the storm, we had more than 32,000 meters without service.  Additional mutual aid resources have been partnering with Talquin crews to help us accelerate the restoration process. Please rest assured that we will continue to work 24/7 until all outages are restored.

We understand that this has been a difficult time for our Members, and it has been a trying time for our employees, as well.  Due to significant outages on Duke Energy’s transmission system statewide, we have had difficulty in getting lines restored that provide service to our substations – in particular our Hinson and Chaires substations.  Please understand that Duke Energy is doing everything they can to restore these services.  However, we did spend a significant amount of time today switching lines for backfeeding these substations so that service could be restored as soon as possible to these areas.

Our target is still to have at least 90% of our Members in each county restored by Wednesday night. Furthermore, we anticipate having at least 98% of our Members in each county restored by Friday night. We will continue to update everyone on our progress as our restoration continues. Thank you very much for your patience and continued support.
